Operational Buyer
Leicestershire

Salary: £28k to £32k - 37 hour week (Half day Fridays), 25 days Statutory, Contributory Pension, Healthcare Scheme, Share Saver Scheme, subsidised canteen, free onsite parking, ongoing training and development

The buyer will be working for a leading Aerospace business in Leicestershire. This is an exciting time to join the business as they have had rapid expansion of this division with the recent acquisition of another business this role will now be managed through three customer-facing 'value streams'. These are dedicated to achieving the greatest possible relationships with our customers, solving problems today with their engineering function and preparing for tomorrow by aligning their applied research and technology (AR&T) investments closely with their technology roadmaps.

Job summary:
The Buyer uses expertise in performing a variety of purchasing activities including pricing, negotiating terms, volume discounts, long-term contracts and delivery of goodsservices with suppliers. Applies government laws and regulations while conducting procurement activities and ensures alignment with management objectives.

Responsibilities:
Prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies
Performs on time delivery of products or services, and negotiates with suppliers to reach highest quality at best value
Initiates bid/quote process for services, supplies and equipment; prepares bid documents and oversees the bid process; performs bid analysis and makes recommendations regarding purchases
Resolves problems and issues arising from purchase of services, supplies and equipment

Evaluates reports to define the need for the purchased product(s), prepares request for quotations, evaluates quotes, selects suppliers, creates and approves purchase orders (POs)
Manages specific custom commodities with high viability to balance demand and maintains an understanding of each supplier's capabilities and current capacity
Applies understanding of basic market drivers, so that reasonable pricing can be determined and supply risk reduced

Requirements:

  • Experienced in acquiring materials necessary for manufacturing and the organisation, while maintaining relationships with vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to write specifications, prepare bid documents, handle bidding process and analyse all bid results
  • Aerospace/Manufacturing background is essential
  • CIPS qualified
  • Strong experience negotiating license contracts with a track record of success
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
