A national structural defect insurance provider are currently seeking a Building Inspector with new build residential sector experience to join the team, operating within the Blackburn - Bury - Rossendale region. The permanent position is home-based, with a salary of up to £48,000, car allowance, private medical insurance and further benefits.

The successful building inspector will provide professional advice on all aspects of property and construction and will be primarily responsible for carrying out risk assessments on properties that have been registered by the company in order that they meet building regulations and all relevant warranty standards.

Building Inspector responsibilities:

  • Site inspections and surveys on projects that are either completed or under construction
  • Carrying out site inspections for 10 year structural warranty insurance cover on new build dwellings. Inspecting buildings at various stages during construction and liaising with builders on any technical issues or sub-standard/remedial works
  • Ensuring work is completed to a standard which complies with current regulations, technical manuals, and health and safety
  • Completing reports and documentation based on site findings
  • Frequent liaison with peers and management on technical matters



  • Degree/ NVQ Level 6 qualified inspector
  • Experience of private residential construction from foundation level through to completion
  • Working knowledge of relevant UK regulations and standards
  • IT literate and project management ability
  • Ability to work on own initiative, managing their own diary and planning site visits
  • Customer-focused surveyor
  • Full driving licence


  • Initiated/ attained professional membership route via RICS/ CABE/ ICWCI or CIOB
  • Previous experience within the structural warranty industry


  • Salary of up to £48,000, dependent on inspector experience and professional membership status
