My client are a UK leader in the materials handling industry, producing innovative and showstopping equipment. Due to their expansion they now have a new opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to join their team. They are looking for an engineer who aspires to develop and progress their career through training and development offered with a great attitude towards working and who deems them self a team player. This opportunity working as a Field Service Engineer would suit an experienced Forklift Engineer or Plant Fitter. We will also consider HGV Technicians, Vehicle Technicians, Agricultural Engineers, Breakdown Engineers, Maintenance or ex forces dependant on experience and level of expertise with varied equipment (Hydraulics, Engines, Electrics etc.)

Job Summary

Reporting to the Service Manager, this role as a Field Service Engineer will be expected to be in control of the maintenance, service and repairs of material handling equipment on customer site. They will be expected to cover occasional breakdowns, as and when is necessary. Candidate will be working with an assortment of equipment which includes a mixture of trucks - Diesel and Gas Engines and Electric Trucks.

Responsibilities of the Site Engineer:

  • Service engineer experience and repair of material handling equipment.
  • Ordering of parts as efficiently as possible & ensure all stock levels/movement records are accurate & correct
  • Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately & within the stipulated time period & with the relevant order numbers
  • Manage own work in progress
  • Maintain a safe working environment & work in a safe manner
  • Report any unsafe practices or potential hazards immediately
  • Attend training courses to maintain up to date knowledge of equipment


  • NVQ Level 3 qualified in Forklifts, Powered Access, Plant, Vehicle Maintenance or similar
  • Preferably served a full apprenticeship
  • Experienced FLT Engineer, Plant Fitter, HGV Technician or Ex forces will be considered for this opportunity
  • Technical experience in Engines, Diesel, Hydraulics, Electrics, Diagnostics are all highly desirable
