A global manufacturer has an exciting new opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to join the team. In the UK they have a smaller division situated near Lichfield where they employ circa to 20 personnel. They produce specialist machinery for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries. They currently have one very established engineer who has worked for the business for over 20 years, and they are now looking forward to appointing an additional engineer to join the business. You will be working alongside an experienced engineer as a buddy system and provided full training, which will involve trips to Germany, all expenses paid as part of your training program. They are looking for an experienced field base engineer, who has flexibility in terms of spending some nights away from home. They offer a very attractive basic salary from £40k to £45k depending on experience, with additional bonuses and overtime.
Responsibilities for the Field Service Engineer
- Commission, start up, and train customers on new equipment, including installation checks, testing, and operational training.
- Provide on-site service, troubleshooting, and repairs for advanced machinery in production plants.
- Work with cutting-edge technology and support component manufacturing processes.
- Train customer personnel and mentor junior field technicians on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Coordinate with German HQ for technical support and maintain detailed documentation and progress reports.
- Manage travel logistics, submit expenses, and attend training sessions in Germany.
Requirements for the Field Service Engineer
- HNC/HND or City & Guild qualified in Mechanical Engineering
- Some electrical competences are essential (servo motors, drives etc.)
- Served a full apprenticeship
- Experienced mobile engineer who is experienced in visiting customers on site
- Skilled in service/maintenance and familiar with metric system.
- Willingness to travel and spend time away from home is essential.
