Production Team Leader

A leading manufacturer in the West Midlands has an exciting opportunity for a Production Team Leader to join the business. Reporting to the Value Stream Manager, you will be managing a workshop/assembly team of circa to ten people. This is rare opportunity as you will only be working a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday. Working hours will be 7am to 5.15pm, with every Friday off work. This also comes with an attractive salary of £36k, 6% contribution pension and Life Cover 4 x salary.

Summary of vacancy:

The position is responsible for managing operators, assemblers, and cell leaders as appropriate. To direct and ensure resourcing of cells to maximize efficiency and productivity in meeting daily targets. The post holder will be accountable for meeting and exceeding metrics as outlined below. The incumbent is expected to manage, train, and develop direct reports and foster a culture of continuous improvement and self-development.

Key Accountabilities:

• To lead and be accountable for the team’s deliverables in terms of quality, cost delivery and safety
• Manage attendance and performance across multiple functions within the shop floor
• Responsible for quality and quantity produced in one or multiple production departments.
• Ensure safety, productivity, quality, and housekeeping goals are obtained.
• Fulfill the total amount of units to be built in accordance with the production plan.
• Participates in New Product Introduction.
• To Liaise with internal and external customers as appropriate regarding team issues.
• Facilitate, coach and mentor team members through changes and improvements.
• Ensure effective resource management to meet business needs.
• Share best practice with other Team Leaders and Lean experts throughout the business.
• Provide cover for other Team Leaders and functional managers as and when required.
• Support, manage and guide Cell Leaders
• Escalate issues that pose risk to the team to the appropriate level in the business promptly.
• Increase employee engagement

Requirements:

• Experienced Production Lead who has managed teams of Assembly, Workshop and Production Technicians
• Team Leader or Supervisory background required
• Background in production/manufacturing
• New Production Introduction
• Understanding of lean principles
