Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

A global manufacturer based in the West Midlands is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team. This is a full-time, on-site position where you’ll take ownership of mechanical design projects, contribute electrical knowledge, and play a key role in developing future engineering leaders.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will include:

• Designing and developing sheet metal components for manufacturing applications.
• Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support production workflows.
• Producing detailed CAD models and technical drawings (CREO preferred, but open to other CAD software).
• Designing wiring looms and harnesses to integrate electrical systems into mechanical designs.
• Collaborating with production and quality teams to ensure designs meet performance and compliance standards.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes.

Requirements for the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Proven experience in mechanical design engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong background in sheet metal design and BOM management.
• Electrical engineering knowledge with hands-on experience in wiring loom and harness design

• Proficiency in CAD software (CREO experience advantageous, but not essential).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site full-time in the West Midlands.
• Experience of mentoring others as this role has the potential to grow into a team leadership role.

• Background in HVAC, refrigeration, or chiller systems would be beneficial but not essential.
