Professional Technical is recruiting for a Senior Product Design Engineer to join a leading design firm based in Preston. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead the development of innovative products.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Develop detailed 3D models and technical drawings using CAD (OnShape, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Lead the design and development process for new products from concept through to manufacturing.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, simulations, and testing to ensure products meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimised for production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and staying within budget.
  • Continuously improve existing products to enhance performance, aesthetics, and durability.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends, materials, and technologies.
  • Contribute to process improvements for resource planning and project management.

Requirements :
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in product development, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Proficient in CAD tools such as OnShape or SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, and prototyping.
  • Experience with FEA/CFD analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively in high-pressure situations.
  • Exceptional communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Portfolio demonstrating successful product launches and design impact.
