An innovative consumer goods business is looking to take on mid-weight UX Design contractor to drive the digital experience of their upcoming smart device pipeline.
This contract is strictly execution-led. You will take immediate ownership of the end-to-end design strategy for both physical on-product screens and the connected mobile apps that control them. While the core focus is digital product design, you will regularly collaborate with engineering workshops to test how digital layouts function on physical mock-ups.
Key Objectives
- End-to-End Mapping: Design intuitive digital paths for device setup, wireless pairing, daily operations, and error states across mobile apps and hardware screens.
- Prototyping & Testing: Build interactive wireframes to validate logic with stakeholders, run lightweight user testing, and iterate based on real feedback.
- Technical Engineering Handoff: Translate designs into engineering-ready specifications, state logic documents, and structured Figma libraries.
- Hardware Harmonisation: Partner with software, firmware, and industrial design teams to adapt your layouts to specific screen, memory, and tactile button limitations.
- Physical Synergy: Participate in hands-on ergonomic evaluations and review 3D-printed workshop prototypes to ensure a seamless physical-to-digital flow.
Your Profile
- Ecosystem Experience: A background designing mobile apps alongside embedded screens, wearables, automotive dashboards, or IoT hardware.
- End-to-End Design Portfolio: A showcase of your work revealing user flows, interface logic, and successful production launches.
- Figma & CAD Literacy: High proficiency in Figma (Dev Mode, design systems) paired with the ability to review and add notes to 3D CAD models.
- Hands-on Mindset: Comfortable working with physical design teams and a basic familiarity with physical modeling or workshop fabrication.
